Raffaele Carpino, italian guitarist, researcher and guitar historiographer,
​after learning in early age the basics of music demonstrating an early inclination to the study of the guitar, graduates with excellent marks at the San Pietro a Majella music Conservatory in Naples.
He performs as solist and with major Italian and foreign orchestras, like the "Arcum" Orchestra of Rome, the Santa Cecilia's Conservatory Orchestra, the Romanian State Philharmonic Orchestra "ARAD".​

Appearing in public for the first time at the age of sixteen, in 1995 he performed at the Nervi Hall in the Vatican City with the Arcum Orchestra of Rome, in the presence of His Holiness Pope John Paul II.

In addition to being the curator of his musical archive, which contains more than 6000 works for and with guitar, he is interested in musicological research of the 18th and 19th centuries, publishing guitar works for some important publishing houses and writing musicological articles for several Italian guitar magazines.

He has published for the publishing houses Esarmonia, Bèrben, Armelin/Zanibon, Baryton, and Doblinger.

In addition to concert and research activities, he also engages in teaching guitar in state institutions.

He is mentioned in Francisco Herrera's important Enciclopedia de la Guitarra (Piles, 2004) and in Benvenuto Terzi and Giacomo Parimbelli's Dizionario dei chitarristi e liutai italiani (Villadiseriane, 2008).

In 2007, he graduated with honors in guitar, in the interpretative-compositional program, also at the San Pietro a Majella music Conservatory. 

​​He has been invited to important international guitar festivals and conferences: in 2008, at the “Franco Margola” festival held in Brescia on the centenary of the composer's birth, he edited the publication of several important collections of unpublished compositions for guitar by the composer, with a study of his compositional work.

He played on the soundtrack of the film series “La Bibbia” (The Bible), broadcast on Rai 1.

In 2013, he recorded the world premiere of several unpublished works for guitar by Ferdinando Carulli and began collaborating with the record label Tactus Record, for which he also published, in 2017, works for guitar by Luigi Legnani, again as a world premiere recording, and in 2020, works for guitar by Mauro Giuliani.

In 2021, he published a collection of works for solo guitar from various centuries for Classical Tunes, released in digital format.

In 2024, he published several works for guitar by Matteo Carcassi for Brilliant Classics.
In 2024, he was one of the organizers and speakers at the conference on Antonio Rovetta held at the Museum of Musical Instruments at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan.
